About Me

I'm Luke, a Product UX/UI Designer. I have a huge passion for user experience and first fell in love with the craft in university while studying Human-Computer Interaction. I just did not have a passion for the development side which frustrated me as I love technology (and its a great well paid job!). But I realised it was the human element of technology that really intrigued me. I spent my free time as a child drawing and designing roads, buildings, football jerseys and comic books. So I've always had a knack for designing things for other people to interact with.

I graduated with a First Class Honours (1.1) (impressive, I know) from Maynooth University and began my professional journey right in the middle of Covid and lockdown.

But as I said I love UX and I've known that is the area I was going to work in. I was extremely determined to land my first UX role, I took many courses on UX and gained skills in Figma. I was then able to take a role with Elavon U.S. Bank as a UX/UI Designer. I spent my first year working in innovation and currently I am the lead (the only) UX/UI Product designer for our new customer application and onboarding application.

While I'm not staring at Figma I'm probably watching football, my other passion. I've supported Manchester United (I know, I know) for as long as I can remember, sometimes I wish I had a less stressful hobby!

I studied Computer Science & Media Studies in university which luckily allowed me a lot of flexibility to choose my modules. So I chose as many UX, UI, design, HCI, web authoring, web development, app development type modules as I could.

I spent 1 and a half years at my first company on their graduate programme. Where I initially worked in Digital Marketing and later in Web Development for Irish Revenue. This experience of working as a developer in a development team has really helped me in my UX journey. Here I also had the chance to work on the login page for MyAccount, a service impacting the majority of people in Ireland.

I spent 2023 gaining real world experience in a large corporate role while also juggling study. I took on a Professional Diploma in UX Design with the UX Design Institute and Glasgow Caledonian University. This was a comprehensive course going through the UX process with projects along the way. I finished the course in 2024 achieving 90%.

I also just love travel. I've currently visited 2̶4̶ 2̶5̶  2̶6̶  2̶7̶  2̶8̶  29 countries and each year plan to tick off more and more.
