Part IV: The Cursed Night

I agree. In hindsight, I have no doubt that the man had some curse over my poor Anne.

An innocent game soon became uncomfortable.

Overwhelmed by emotions of shock and horror, I could see the decline in her sanity from that very moment. I will never forget the sound of that scream. I felt helpless.

We truly lost our Anne on the night that we gathered to play cards with the young stranger. The game began like any other; friendly yet competitive – but the tension in the atmosphere was undeniable.

Suddenly, a burst of adrenaline came upon me as Anne let out the most piercing scream from beneath the table. It soon became clear as I lay eyes on his abnormality; the stranger possessed cloven hooves instead of feet. Anne was overwhelmed by mania and screamed the devil’s name

In a matter of seconds, the man’s infuriation with Anne transformed him into a blazing set of flames. He forcefully burst through the roof, leaving a lasting imprint of his dark presence in the structures of our house.

Would you take this man to be the devil?
